What is media?                                                                                                                                  Sunny Fulton

Media is a form of communication to a target audience through magazines, newspapers, TV etc. There are many different ways that media can be used such as showing specific codes and conventions to the target audience to gain an understanding of the media text. Media can be used to influence and inform the target audience’s thoughts and opinions.

Mass Media is media on a larger scale where it is meant for a larger audience such as a radio broadcast, television and internet which are web based. There are also print based types of media for instance newspapers, magazines, leaflets etc.

Media was created through hieroglyphics and sign language during the cave man era. As the years have passed, media can now be found in much more advanced forms and has allowed people all over the globe to communicate and keep in contact with each other. It would have been a lot harder for us to do this without the advanced sources of media that are available today.

Media bias is the or perceived bias of journalists and news producers within the mass media in the selection of events and stories that are reported and how they are covered.

  1. a good attempt, a whirl wind tour of what is media, would be nice to see some more concrete examples to back up some of your points. an example of bias for example. It would be nice to elaborate on the power media can have to influence and persuade.
